The Aussie Surf story began in the late 1990s when Jack Mitchell hung up his competition jersey after a decade on the World Championship Tour. Having traveled to every major surf destination globally, Jack realized that his home country offered unparalleled diversity in wave types and surf experiences, yet there was no comprehensive guide service dedicated to helping visitors navigate Australia's vast coastline.
Starting with weekend surf clinics at Burleigh Heads, Jack quickly developed a reputation for his expert instruction and intimate knowledge of local conditions. As word spread, demand grew for multi-day tours exploring lesser-known breaks beyond the Gold Coast.
By 2005, Aussie Surf had expanded to Byron Bay and Noosa, bringing on fellow retired pros as guides. The 2010s saw the company grow further with the addition of premium surf safari experiences in Western Australia, Victoria, and remote parts of the coastline accessible only by 4WD vehicles.
Today, Aussie Surf employs over 25 expert guides across the country and has helped more than 50,000 surfers from 70+ countries experience Australia's world-class waves. While we've grown, our core mission remains unchanged: to share our passion for Australian surf culture and connect people with the perfect wave for their skill level and style.
